Thats not a hujeta. There are a few species that have the same body shape but different coloration. That might be a malcuta or another species.

I do not think it is right to say kill them selves. After all that person bought a predator only fish that in nature would only eat fish. And will now not feed it its natural food. But is trying to change thousands of years of evolution and feed it dead foods. This is were responsible fish keeping comes in hand. Please do research before buying fish and ask the lfs what they are eating there. And if you buy predator fish be ready to feed them predator foods. LIVE

I agree with you here.... in his case i am sure the LFS will feed him live.. but yes i HATE with a passion feeding live food...but if it comes to it i will definitly do it... i have done it... with my clown knife... fed baby guppies... it has to happen slowly ...wean them off... sometimes... i do not believe in starving a fish to change his eating habits.. i would never take the chance and go that route...but i respect others methods and as long as they are successful is what counts.

you dint read my previous posts.i said he was eating prawns very nicely and was doing great,it was only after the gar had him in his mouth that he has stopped eating. and today i returned him back to the LFS. i dont think it is necessary to feed fish live food. you will come back and say its natural thats what happens in the wild. but i think some people forget that in the wild the prey has a chance to eacape.its not a standing food in a tank of 6 feet where it has no place to run. so i dnt prefere live feeders. and all my fishes eat dead food and are doing marvellously well.

i have never fed live food ever..not to my aros nor my gar.the hujeta was just too stubborn to crack.even the lfs fed him prawns.i always ask my lfs what they feed their fishes before i buy. but i dont know what happened to him and he wont just eat anything.hes anyways back to the lfs

I love live food, it is nature after all. I stopped i don't want to risk the disease incorporated with it , if i could find a cheap disease free way to feed my fish live i would with no hesitation. fortunately for me my gar was an easy break from the live food, he eats floating bloodworms, fish flakes, crickets, prawns he is a pretty easy feed and it took like a few days to convert after live feedings
