Do you reckon abut 5 cons, a oscar, and 2 red devils would beat up a 5 discus?

HOLY F#CK MAN!!! Are you sure you know how to keep fish, and which ones go together? NEVER put Oscars, Convicts, Red Devils with Discus!!! They would flog the absolute ***** out of the Discus.

:iagree: Blood and guts all over the show.

Ps. Hi all new to mfk looks like a cool site.

  They are nothing compared to a calm Oscar. A Red Devil can draw blood. Perhaps only a drop or two, but nonetheless.

i'd just do lots of research on fish compatibilty before you decide what to get. your oscar will still get to at least 8-10" in your 20 gallon tank, my first oscar was housed in one for the first year of his life (i didn't know any better at the time, bought him at wal-mart-enough said!). he just won't be able to swim very much and the water quality will be pretty hard to keep up with. if i were you i'd either return him or start saving for at least a 55 gallon tank. some people say they need 75 gallons but if he's alone then he should be fine in a 55 gallon. if you want to add any other fish you'd want to save for an even larger tank. my cousin tried to keep two large oscars in a 40 gallon tank and they fought so much over the small space they ended up hitting the tank walls and busting the seals. He had to reseal that tank many, many times before he ended up losing the fish from all the stress.
I've never kept red devils, can't help you there except to say read all the numerous threads on here.

:iagree: Although a full adult oscar will need a 75 gallon no question about it. They need that extra 6 inches to turn around in. Also the increase in water volume will make it easier on WCs. Unless you add another fish. Oh and Oscars will keep growing in their enviroment until they longer can which will be a VERY VERY stunted oscar which will lead to all sorts of diseases such as HITH disease lateral line erosion and slime coat to be like 1/4 to 1/2 an inch thick in order to keep out the nasty water quality that would be in a 20 gallon with an 8 inch oscar. I would get a 90 gallon and say you are safe with the cons and oscar.
