china, xiamen
bought it in china.. its about 18cm (7 inch), is it asian or southamerican? i dont know..
when i first got it, its top color was dark brown or black, and now it turned to light brown or beigi. will it die? is it sick?

and yeah,, i dont know wat to feed him:cry: yesterday i put 2 fishes (i cripled them btw) with him, and today both fishes still alive.

for how long can the catfish live with no food?
shall i try to cut the fishes into 2 halfs then feed him?
or just leave one healthy fish with him?

i read somewher that u shouldnt feed him fishes while he still young, so he wont get refuse anyother food.. is it true? if so then wat shal i feed him?

i put him in aquarium with 2 lobsters and a sucker

and here some photoes before and after it turned to light color
can anyone guess its current age?
wats the average age/size of this catfish?

and thank you

dude get him out of that tank ASAP and into a 125 as a grow out he will stunt his growth or die. 2- he is south american. light color means he is stressed out no room to move and that crayfish maybe bothering him also the ruff coral in the tank and you can try shrimp but if he's stressed he wont eat if you dont do what i;m telling you it will die

South American

Lol beat me too it.That is a little harsh how you said some things....

There is SOOO much information about these guys in this catfish section. Just start scrolling down the page and you will get all the info you need. There is also A sticky about them. I feed mine Bloodworms, beefheart, shrimp, tilapia fillets, and what not. He should take a liking to those pretty quick. Good luck

If you don't already have a bigger tank then start investing in one. There seems to be a second aquarium in the first picture. He will start eating the fish. Feed him some prawns (no shell), earthworm.

As long as you have a large aquarium, RTC is fairly easy to take off. Your fish is a baby. My RTC is close ~60-70cm.

PS: no need to cripple the feeders for him.

:iagree: You need a lot more room for that RTC ASAP! At least a 125 for now. Forget stunted growth, that fish is unhappy.:(

I'd rather sell the fish to someone who can accommodate this fish for a long time. With a fish like this, it will wipe out its tankmates in no time and outgrow several tanks while you keep upgrading them.

Common guys, there seems to be a second aquarium in the background ... perhaps it is big enough

PS: Mo0n, you really should research first, buy later (at least to get a basic idea of what r u getting) ... i know, impulse buying is difficult, but you gotta fight it
