they get HUGE VERY FAST.
they will eat everything and anything that they can.
hes stressed in the lil tank.
get him outta there.
better start investing in a pond or a HUGE tank rather than more fish.

benzjamin, can you be a bit more specific about RTC going pale?? Pictures? My RTC is not very dark in color like some of the ones i have seen on this site (in fact, they are fairly 'fair')... never seen mucus though

wow. make it as comfotable as possible. and dont put speakers next to the tank. like everyone says, you are goin to need a pond for the RTC, their growth in the first year is amazing. try to find it a better home if you cant get a much larger tank, or find a friend on here that has a large tank to grow it out in untill you get a big tank.

lame ass answers make me wonder why you evan post a relpy there is a nice way to do it and a bad way! I am ashamed to say I belong on a site that lets people get thrashed for a fish choice they may not have known about but are atleast trying to learn! this fourm is starting to sound like Planet Catfish I left that fourm for this reason! so if you have nothing constructive to add or help this person out dont post and leave it to the people who actually know what they are talking about!
si here goes the fish you bought grows from 4 -6 feet in the first 2 years he grows his fastest and tends to slow down! they will consume any living thing that wil fit in its mouth and try some that dont! need very clean water and a strong filter he will produce alot of waist! and need a pond atleast 6 feet wide and 10 -15 feet long anf 4 fet deep!
as for foods will consume pritty much any meaty foods! live or dead! if this fish sounds like a fish that is to big for you to handle then i would take him back or sell him or give him away to some one who can! we all started some were in this hobby started pritty much the same way and if you chose to keep him just realize he is atleast 10 to 15 year comitment! I am sorry for some of these replies you got most of us monster catfish keepers dont feel that way I will answer any questions you have and so will others!

An RTC doesn't belong in anything but a pond. They will reach 6 feet, and I have personally seen one that large. Should not be sold in pet stores.
