Wow, what a buzz kill. :( Let's see how they look in a couple months.

Sorry I didn't mean to kill your buzz, just telling you what can happen...
Well at least if they keep their color you'll know you got some good quality males that color up at 2 inch, that is possible~ If they are still looking good now your chances of them staying like like are high :headbang2:popcorn:

Well, just thought I post one last time with this for you to stay subscribed because I set up a reminder to myself to re-post the status of these peacocks after 60 days to see if they retained their colors, or if they were hormoned. I will post photos in November.

I also wanted to state that after closer examination, the neon yellow green one that is the 6th photo down, has a black head, not a dark blue head like I thought. I'm still looking online for anything similar. Any ideas are welcomed.

The 6th pic looks like a. baenschi (benga yellow, it is possible he could be a maleri maleri, just google the 2 see which one matches). Hopefully they weren't juiced, good luck with them. Looking forward to the update.

Yea, I wonder if there'll be a congressional inquirey! ;)

Thanks!

I checked those suggestions online and the thing that is throwing me is the solid black head. The body looks pastel yellow green. Anyway, I uploaded some more photos and put them in an album called, Mystery Peacock. Maybe with a different angle you or someone can peg this little guy.

Thanks,

sd

I do think it looks like a "benga yellow"/ Aulonacara Baenschi did it have ablue face when you got him? He does have alot of yellow for such a small size here's your compared to mine when he was 3 inch...
yours

my 3 inch

my f1 baenchi's 1.5 inch
http://i577.photobucket.com/albums/ss213/leekai8/SANY3826.jpg

the reason they loose the blue is that blue is the color that developes the most when they are the dominant peacock in the tank so yours might be subdominant right now and or it lost some blue do to the hormones he may have received before wearing off...?? Or he might just not have developed that color yet seeing as he's only 2 inch now, as you can see with my small bengas they have brownish black faces right now... Hope that helps...

Never had a blue head, but I've only had him for about a week. Also, no matter what angle or lighting, there are no discernible stripes on mine. Near the tail, the gradient of pastel green has a little black in it. When I look at how much change yours had from 1.5 to 3", I'm thinking mine will change too.

I'll post more in a couple months. Thanks much!

I'm still two months away from knowing whether these little beauties were juiced, but I just wondered if they were juiced, and they are male, will their colors return once they have matured?

The reason I ask is that if they have been juiced, I am going to tell the LFS owner and probably demand my money back. If they will get their colors back when they mature, I will let the owner know, but will keep the fish.

Thanks,

Still the same, but it hasn't been that long yet. Glad to know the colors will return--if they do loose them. That's reassuring.

BTW--I've been doing a little research and unless the photos were mislabeled, I believe all of my aforementioned peacocks are Rubin Reds. I saw just about every color combo I have in photos of Rubin Reds.
