Ordered from Wetspot and they are definately small. They are too small to go into my tank which houses 3" V. Melanura since they can literally be eaten. Was expecting them to be bigger but they are healthy which is all that matters.

I will be putting them into a 20L that i have some Baby Bushynose plecs in right now from my spawn. I hope they wont try to eat the plecs and choke. The plecs are literally a quarter inch. Should I worry that they will choke?

I'll post pics soon when i get them home.

In the meantime, if you're planning on ordering these yourself, be mindful of their size. A 2.5" managuense would be able to eat them to give you an idea of how small they are.

So immediately after I release them from the bag, the largest one inhales a baby plec. As long as its safe, they can eat them all for all I care as I was only growing them out to get some credit at the LFS. I figure it could be a good source of food until i wean them only pellets.

Anyone know if I'm running a risk of them choking or are the bones of baby plecs fragile enough to not cause issues?

I'd worry about it, if it were me. I tend to be cautious though.

cool im going to get a group of 5 soon shipped this monday... Post up some pics I wanna see if theyre the real thing ;) IK someones cincta died choking on a pleco awhile back so be mindful that it's happened before

Also be careful if some of the pikes start to grow faster than others, the large will then eat the small.
I started with 10 bellycrawlers in a 100 gal, ended up with 1 large female in a very short time.

I caught out most of the plecs. The two that ate plecs seem ok and have already swallowed them. Amazing to see their appetite. Pics coming soon.

A few pics. One is a group of 4 of them, one is of the one that ate a pleco, and the third is a tank shot of the 20L that is a Quarantine/Fry/New Pike tank.

Can you get PE Mysis in SE PA, mrrobxc?

The nutritional value is much better than blood worms, you can get them to eat it out of your fingers at this age, and it'll help get them onto pellets.

Just be careful with PE Mysis or any high protein rich food because it can easily give them bloat. (Cure with Epsom salt and mid 80's temperature)
