Just got my 8 baby C. Cincta's in

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Hey rmkblades can you get some better closeup non blurry pics of them? I have a feeling they may be a saxatilis sp. but ill need better pictures to ID for sure thanks

they look good to me not sure about the ID they look like they could be cinctas. slightly red tail with spangles on them and i do see faint "tiger" stripes...also a dark lateral line with a spot behind the gills

IDK something about them, maybe their tail shape, the way they swim or something makes them seem sus for some reason idk they're probably too small to tell yet

They have a bluish sheen on them but the humeral blotch and orange on the caudal fin is making me think they may not be a lugubris pike species. Wetspot claims that they're wild from Peru... Does anyone know where I can get a list of fish native to peru?

Cren. cincta can come out of Peru.

Spots in the tail, almost never fail. ;) Judging by the aquabid auction from WetSpot, they look cincta. They are small though, really small, so give them time, and take better pictures. LoL

More pictures would be nice too!

No, I obviously do know they come out of Peru as well but they don't really seem right to me. Even the way their belly swells up after eating too many flakes looks very saxatilis like lol. Also Cr. Anthurus are highly spangled along with many Saxatilis sp. so spangling or spots on the tail doesn't really mean much to me. But Rob you are right they are too small to be sure of a positive ID

I really hope they are Cincta. Mine are still small but 3 are starting to pick up size.

Not spots on the tail, spots IN the tail. Caudal fin actually has spots. Most saxatilis group pikes only have striations in the caudal fin.

Would be nice to see a better picture at a larger size.

The ones Wet Spot has posted pics of look more cinctaish, the pictures rob posted look more lucius. LoL
