Just got my 8 baby C. Cincta's in

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I believe i can. I actually have some frozen mysis from Hikari if that makes a difference.

THE dreaded bloat...i've lost plenty fish to them. I will make sure to try and get them onto pellets asap. Wondering how I'll get my lents on Pellets because I hate buying feeders...

When I got mine from Snook they were so hungry they hit pellets right away. Don't give them feeders, and just let them eat pellets.

And as for your crenicichla cincta, thaw out a thumb nail size chunk of Mysis.

PE Mysis has an extremely high amount of protein, and fish freaking love it.

You can soak hikari pellets in the Mysis while it thaws, and they will start to get the taste of the pellets with their food.

Just feed them sparingly, they will pig out on anything and you'll have a bunch of balloons floating around in your tank.

IK someones cincta died choking on a pleco awhile back so be mindful that it's happened before
That was mine. It was a 12-13" fish that was killed by a 4" pleco. I don't know that I would risk it.

My group of 5 cincta are coming in this Tuesday! For feeders just starve the lents since theyre a pretty good size and theyll come around quickly especially after watching your other fish eat them. Back a few years ago i bought a Cr. Johanna like 4 inches that had some type of bloat especially around the anus, ate sparingly, and I couldn't cure it and it died... I would def. add epsom salt, regular aquarium salt and melafix did nothing GL with that Lent Ive always wanted to try some but never decided to fork out the $

Good to hear about the Cincta. I hope I can grow them all out to a good size when I move them to my 220 Gallon. Thanks for reaffirming the Epsom salt. I will def. do that soon.

Anyone have tips to share on the Cincta's?

i got a group of 6 myself...my wife thought they were small but (not knowing any better) dummped them into my 265g with my geophagus. they are in there but MAN are they small....never seen a pike that wasnt a dwarf that small...ill never be able to catch them, and move them. ive been feeding the whole tank brine shrimp ive seen a few dart out and grab a shrimp or two.. i hope they grow. i may just order some more and put them in another tank.

Try a trap to catch them. Get a small plastic bottle and put some frozen food in there. When they swin in, block the opening with a net and bring them out.

I used to use that method with Dwarf cichlids when I was into heavily planted tanks because you sure as heck cannot uproot and take everything out like you can in a fish only tank.

If you aren't careful those Geos can and will eat the pike.
