I just got my aro on friday, and he didn't start eating til yesterday, I got him to eat some small pieces of krill, and this morning he seems to be eating just fine, so I can only suggest patience

agreed. it took my aro about a week to start eating. it took many weeks for it to start eating non-live foods. patience is the key

If you have f/d stuff around like krill it might be worth trying, something about the krill seems to tempt the fussy eaters.

How big is your oscar? I don't see any problems with the other cichlids, my arowana came in at 8" or so and my sevs and chocolate (all grown adults) completely ignore the aro. Also seconding the pic request...I almost got a black but the price scared me off with it being my first aro, got a wild silver instead and I'm loving him.

The oscar is 12+ inches. It will open it's mouth and posture a little bit with some of the other cichlids but doesn't really ever attack anything. So hopefully it will behave or I'll have to move the aro until it gets bigger. I'll get a couple pics up this weekend.

Thanks for everyones help. I really appreciate it.

If he gets stressed, beat up or doesnt start eating in a week move him. Aros are fragile by comparison to cichlid when small. Krill or guppies will get him started.

black is probably stressed and getting use to the enviroment so its normal

Well, the good news is that the aro ate one piece of krill. It spit some out but still ate some. It also tried to eat a food stick but spit it out in a million pieces. It went up and bumped a few other things but wouldn't bite. SO I think it is on the right track, just going to take sometime to get used to the tank and my food.
