use some appetizer solution if ur lfs sells it
dont use chemical

beautiful fish, and i agree, dont use chemicals... he will eat, and hes big enough where you dont have to worry about it if it takes a couple days. my experience with black aros says stick to krill and pellets. those are my black's favorite.

Can i ask what you paid for your black aro? we very very rarely get them in australia and i think they are fantastic looking aros. Very pricey down here.

I got it from a vendor here (infinate aquatics). It was $120 and is easily 2-3 inches bigger then what was advertised.

Thanks for all the help and tips everyone. The fact that it showed some interest tonight makes me think it is going to be eating like a pig soon. It sure looks healthy so hopefully all will be good

thats great to hear rich sellstuff bigger than he measures haha

Nice aro.

I think he will be just fine, he may just need to get used to your sticks since they're different than what he was eating, and seeing some of his tankmates in the pic, I think he's plenty big enough to stay in there unless the O gets rowdy.

Just an update:

The aro has been eating cichlid sticks and freeze dried krill. It is still pretty skittish and won't get in with the other fish to eat. But is I feed them on one side and drop some krill or sticks in on the other side he grabs a few of them. Not eating a ton yet, but doing pretty good I think.

Anyone got an idea how much I should be feeding it a day?
