Just Got Stung...What NoW?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
just came accross this. hot water is the best i can advise and if its not too late the i would go with the scotch even against davids advice lol.

i had bad pain all up my arm and around my armpit and was worried it would spread further ( to lungs and heart being the top of my arm ) but with submersion in hot water the pain didnt spread further than my armpit.

i wouldnt have been so calm without the scotch though especially sat infront of my family all night lol. i do however have a medi pack with instrucitions for paramedics should things go bad next to the tank that the family know about... just incase. but it wasnt needed in this case.

i dont think getting stung is anything to worry about unless there is risk of infection imo and would relate it to a wasp sting but a bit more painful and not necessarily in the area of the wound.

Also, for future reference, the hot water is good because it denatures the stinging chemical, but applying a paste made from baking soda and water will also help neutralize the acid. This technique can be used for lots of stings from various animals, except jellyfish and fire ants.

The best piece of advice I can give from the entire experience is to STAY CALM. I went into a mild panic immediately following the sting and that just made everything worse.

Also, big ups to my girlfriend who finished up the aforementioned water change while I was writhing in pain!
