A 150 on a 65 is a lil low. I use 250 watts on my 20 gallon. Overkill is always best no matter what in this hobby. Heaters malfunction all the time so more is better. Plus its less stress on the heaters when 2 work together

From what I've seen heaters tend to malfunction and stay on more than they just die. I would say lower on the wattage scale would be better.
150w or 200w should be fine. I use a 150w Eheim Jager on my 50 gallon.

I've only had 2 heaters malfunction on me in 11 years of fish keeping. Both were on tanks that I should have had higher wattage heaters. Since then I've always had 2 heaters in each tank just in case and all are over 250 watts. Its no fun to come home and ur one heater cooked or died and ur fish are dead. Always use 2 heaters

Yea, I do see the pros of having two heaters but I think 600 watts is abit much. I think im going to do a 300 and a 150 or something like that. Anyone have any ideas on sand, filtration, and the stock? Im thinking about adding a couple more leopard ctenopoma but idk I might just leave it
