Just wondering what about the largest plecos anyone out there has seen. How big have your Plecos gotten? The biggest one I saw as a trade in was about 18 inches. Would like to find that guy now, I have a home for him now.

I saw an albino about 20 inches at a lfs.

Biggest one I have is about 18-19" inches, nose touches bottom of upper plastic trim and tail touches gravel when he's on the glass. I know I've seen pics on here of some that were even bigger though.

I have seen some wild ones here that are easily 2ft prob closer to 3.

I found a little one once in an aquarium ornament at a day care center. It was about 4 inches long, had been living in 2 inches of filthy water, no food, no air. Rescued it, took it home. Turned into a 10 inch terror of a digger. Amazing, the conditions some of these fish can survive in. Wild ones would be enormous. Wouldn't mind seeing some fish in their native environment, but I'm not much of a traveler.

Longshot, what part of texas do you live in? I used to live in Abilene back when I was in high school.

We had them in the san Antonio river. Basically any river in Texas has them

Read on Yahoo about wild plecos causing trouble in Florida. The picture was of an "armored cat". My first thought was "Free Plecos!". If I lived in Florida, could catch wild oscars and plecos and never need to buy a fish! I'm looking for a big pleco trade in, I'll find one eventually. Need one big enough to stay out of the mouth of a 14 inch jaguar.

Saw one in the river here in florida when I was with a few friends. One guy tried catching it, but it swam away. It was a good 16-20 inches.
