Just not pets

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I seen a hammer head shark $8000, baby tiger (black market) $5000 US, baby black tip reef shark $2200, baby nile crocodile $320, baby green anaconda $200, anyone interested? :nilly:

I agree with kittyhazelton, as long as you have the proper equipment and housing for those "BIG PET", you should be able to keep them.

As long as not giving your neighbor an unfriendly visit and if that pet kills the owner, its his/her fault for keeping it.. It's their decision, just like if you decide to do cocaine, its your decision, nobody can bug into your business, but if you get caught by cops, its your consequence (you cant blame on others) Its our CHOICE and FREEDOM! :D

It might encourage impulsive buyer, but like kittyhazelton said.. License is what we need :D

As for license, we should have to apply for them (for keeping track of the animal, so it doesnt run loosely, etc etc) :D

I seen a lot of prohbited animals in my city bylaw.. but I still see them for sale in a lot of pet store..
I heard from my friend that they can get guns and drugs :irked:

BUT it doesnt mean i have to get it.. :D

A nile crocodile? What the hell is wrong with your country lol. I must admit, Z trip i understand why you said what you said in this thread, your side of the pond is completely different.

Anyway heres someone i know how keeps a lot of lemurs and monkeys/marsups http://www.captivebred.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9883&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=20

I would not worry about venomous snakes -- in most parts of the western world they require a permit anyway.

Any animals kept in captivity should be treated in the same legal manner as cats and dogs, even fish. That is my opinion at least. I don't have a problem with people taking in animals that are usually shunned upon in the pet community as long it is legally obtained with full paperworks or captive-bred and well taken care of. That is why I am not found of people keeping non-Australian monitors; most of them are wild-caught without any or little paperworks being forwarded to the owner. I know myself would love to own reptiles that is outrageous like the two species of Water Monitors from Australia and the Perentie if I can find someone breeding them. ;) Too bad I don't have the space for them right now.

The States is a mess anyway, you guys are TOO WARM! Haha.

WHOA! You can really sell young black tip reef sharks for 2200 bucks???? I catch and eat these guys all the time. Damn I've been eating some expensive meals...

I totally agree with Davo. Aslong as the people buying give ALOT of thought, and don't just plan to flog the animal off when it gets too much to handle, and are willing to spend the time, money, effort, and knowledge on them then why not? Ok, Its not your average corn snake I agree, but then, smaller households with very young children etc still have to go through the same amount of thought of whether they should buy one than say a family of adults (all snake lovers) buying a large boid. Hope that makes sense? People really do have to go into it very carefully, and realise what they are keeping has the capacity to kill them easily, pretty much whenever it feels it wants too, which I think is most peoples problem when they buy such animals, they think they are 'tame' and so will never harm them (tame nile crocodile anyone..?). I, dont have a problem with keeping/people keeping larger/potentially more dangerous animals aslong as they are cared for properly and proper precausions are taken, and I'm proud of it really. But yeah, defo some crazy people out there just buying because they can, or to show off, though you dont hear of that many anymore, most people getting large monitors etc ARE enthuiasts which is good. I guess you could say getting a larger animal is totally different from something smaller, which would be true, but in the long run and overview of it all, its really not. For enthuiasts, its not a problem :):)
(In my opinion :P)

lol wasn't saying you were a liar, just that it's crazy you have animals like nile crocodiles so easy to obtain for just 200 dollars. That is mental.
However the advert is exactly what is wrong with todays reptilekeeping. A caimen missing toes because they housed it with a turtle, and calling a nile crocodile tame. Nile crocodiles 99.9% of the time, is out of everyones league. Where do you find these people? lol
