Just ordered Fx5...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The first top I would put the blue filter pad and the bottom and middle I would put bioballs. That always worked for me..

Thank you for all the input you guys. I am thinking about running the ac110 with the Fx5 like you said.
Any specific sponge type to put in the ac110?

Kind of off topic but on a few of my larger tanks I use an fx5 with a single foam pad in it works great for mechanical filtration. I also have large sumps for bio filtration. IME fx5s are only good for either bio or mech filtration, not really both. I'm not saying its not going to work at all but you lose alot of the water flow when you fill it with media.

I have a 120g tank with a fluval FX5 and a 305 and I use prefilter fluval and the last 2 baskets with biomax seems to work pretty well.

I run ac110 and fx5 combo, its a beautiful thing!! Ac110 1 sponge then 2 layers of blue filter pad cut to fit, 7$ for 18"x36" sheet, used for polishing. Fx5 all 3 trays=bio, water is perfect, never had issues or probs!
