Thanks for all the information! Im going to do that combo. One more question though. Do i still use the pads that the fx5 comes with? Or take them out?

No circle pads! Only the foam blocks that come with it! Make sure u rinse the bio, and fill the baskets up leaving 1/2" at the top so they interlock! in the ac110 is where u want polishing pads!

I am running 2 FX-5's on a 265 tank with a few very big fish. They're both filled with scrubbie pads I bought at a dollar store. I made certain that they don't contain any chemicals, detergents, etc. They've been running fine for about 2 years now. I really can't say whether these scrubbie pads are any better or worse than other media, but they're CHEAP and seem to work pretty well.
