Just picked up 2 pleco, ID not sure

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Definetly a Hypancistrus type but more close to L340 than L129 to me.
Both nice by the way..

If those are not both clowns I will eat my shoes!!!
I have had several clowns over the years, and they looked exactly like those 2 you have. A zebra pleco is black with white stripes (it looks like a zebra... Duh me) but anyways, I am convinced those are clown pleco's.
Whoever sold you the one labelled as a zebra should give you a refund or something. They sold you a fish for more money than it is worth. I don't know what the real zebra goes for in the USA, but here in holland they sell for about $200 each, due to import laws etc.

From what i gathered it is L129, columbian zebra or L340.. your thinking of L46 that cost arm and leg

my hypancistrus dont and will not
but good for you

ditto- mine won't even look at the veggies either.

Yeah i have 6 L134 and these look very similar, looks like the bigger on is a male. But i would say L134, definately not a L270

Without a side view it is hard to ID these guys.

L129 and L340 is not right though. L270 is what they look like to me. There is not enough genetic variation from either L340 or L129 to get a pleco that looks like that. If they were that cheap though, there is a chance they were bred, which could have lead to hybrids. Without a doubt though, they are not clowns nor leopard frogs.
