Just picked up a green terror. Did i pay too much?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
if the log can fit into your bath tub you can put it in there and then pour boiling water over it until its covered and let it soak and this should take out a majority of the tannins, also you can get big pieces of slate and other rocks from big home improvement stores or depot places that sell garden decor stuff/tile. those would all def look better than cinder blocks

Thanks..I was going to go with the slate and rocks from Home Depot. However my fish doesnt seem to care too much about the bottom half of the tank. They like to hover near the top. Ill be going back to HD to see if i can find something with a high vertical rise

They have a "show" GT at a LFS here by me and want $75. It's about 5-6". I myself wouldn't pay that much for it but it is a beautiful fish.
Edit.. forgot to add it's been there for about 6 months too.

Don't let the price you paid bother you, or comps provided from others. If your fish looks similar to the vid, I'd spend the dough for it. I'm sure its a nice fish, you wanted it, and now you got it, enjoy. As stated earlier, keep a close eye on the devil.

Actually, that's not a bad price for a nice one in the houston area. I've seen some of them for near 100 at a couple of shops around here. I'd try to find something to put in the tank for decor. The bath tub driftwood idea is good, so is the home depot slate and rock. Your fish may hang near the top now, but if you get more hiding spots, your fish will swim around a bit more. Also it would lesson the aggresion.

You could also add some dithers like silver dollars to keep the heat off the gt.
