I know they can get quite a bit bigger :P I am heading down to a place near my moms later this summer that has been stocked for years and there are many 10in+ bluegill in there, beautiful ones too.

Btw, wtf is up with this Oscar, he isnt showing agression to other fish but he is tearing the hell out of my tank, moved or tore out every decor item in there so far, right now he is "fighting" with a 4" x 12" pvc pipe... no fish inside, just some rocks atm... he's bein' a real punk! Literally swims to the plants, bites ahold and wrestles them out, and I had them buried deep in river pebble! lol :screwy: This fish needs to :chillpill: The JD is doing much better, a lot more active today, I would like to get a mate for him, he is very pretty. Is he a regular JD or would he be considered a blue jd? he is a lot more blue than the pictures gives justice too. Almost everything that "reflected" yellow in the picture is blue. Just curious, if you guys say he is regular, I will believe you :D first JD I have owned.

Welcome to the wonderful work of Oscar, lol. He's going to redecorate it however he wants. And you can give up any hope on light decor like fake plants. Only decor I have in my O's tank is 30-50lb huge river rocks that he can't move, driftwood nailed down to slate, and plants at the top being held down by the weight of the entire canopy. Gotta O proof them decorations, lol.

It's just a common cichlasoma octofasciatum, aka Jack Dempsey. You would know if it was an EBJD as they are quite neon/bright blue all around.

LOL, ok thanks for the info Jon, scratches are almost all healed up already, have to do a water change a lot more though, that O is a pig and the JD is not much neater! I really need to invest in a python or something, I cant do more than a 20% change at a time because I have to use 5g buckets to refill if i want my water similar temps! >.< Sucks I dont have a sink downstairs where the tanks are... I really need to finish that bathroom... like really need to

nice fish, good job on the rescue.
Thanks, I really just wanted the JD but the Oscar is an...interesting... addition  . My Doberotbull doesnt like it, she sits there and growls/barks while giving it the evil eye, which is scary from her even at 5 months
