I have very soft water because I use a reverse osmosis system. I harden this water a little bit and use fertilizer in combination to CO². Not very much, but together with the excrements of the fishes it seems to be good for the plants.
And I only have plants, which are robust and don´t need much light like vallisneria, anubia, nymphaea lotus and so on.

Do you think, it´s darker than it should be? They`ve always looked like this - this picture is from when I´ve gotten them about one year ago:

Buddy I am really confused now. Are these my eyes or there is mettalic blue on its gills ?

Surely its draker. May be some other member chime in as well ?

It does appear to be a bit darker/blue. Don't worry human bean you ain't going crazy.

I figure maybe due to lighting/plants/bottom color. Unless anyone thinks it's something else? Maybe I'm seeing things too now lol!

I think it's a mixture of the lighting/cover and genetics. The sen may have been a little darker than the others in its batch. That matched with a lot of hiding spots that help it avoid the majority of the light, can cause the sen to become so dark.

Hi there,

i wanted to show my tank - it´s not as big as some of yours but I like it ;)
It´s a 180g and I tried to stay in West Africa. There are only two exceptions: 2 Panaqolus mac. affus. "L448"

Here´s a small selection of the pics I took during the time...

The tank itself (my own... my love... my precccioussssss ;) ):

That´s it. :)

Here is a vid of what the tank looks like when they smell food...

And here during feeding - normally they get food when light turnes off, but for the video I needed light. That´s why not every fish can be seen. Especially the Synodontis angelicus and the Polypterus buettikoferi are hiding at day.
Please add more pix of senegalus you have. With these velvet black and blue shades they are indeed unique.

I´ll try to get some pics of them - but maybe it takes time. With this jungle in my tank I don´t see some fish for days. And when I see them it´s too dark for a good picture... ;)

Hi there!
This weekendI will begin to build a new setup. I'm not looking forward of caching all the fishes - but I've bought some new roots and I can´t replace it with the polys in the tank.

Here are some pics of the polys (especially the senegalus ;) ) and one of the tank at the moment:

Some fish I don´t see for weeks - I´m courious if everybody is still alive!

Two new arrivals - Synodontis nigrita 'yellow'. Didn´t see them since I've put (set?) them in the tank...

Nice fish. Great looking scales tank. I'm sure the fish are relaxed in there. The bush fish look real great, my favorite.

this setup is amazing, can't believe I'm just now seeing it
