I've worked with them at my school (majoring in natural resource management) but I have never owned a hot snake.

I know a guy that has a few rattlers and he knows a guy that has a few cobras :WHOA: not sure of the kind though

That's the correct way to think.

I was stupid once and trusted a dealer that i was buying a egg-eating snake (non-ven) from......she ended up being a rearfang hot and i have had her for quite a while now. Makes me wonder how anyone can deal with a speedy cobra. She is FAST and can be a tough character to keep.

That guy now has an asian spitting cobra he said he got surgery done too it so its not poisonous. My question is are there any devenomizing surgerys for hot snakes?

I would say, Your Nuts...but in a cool way. Gaboons have some awsome patterns :headbang2

they are called vemonoids they surgically remove the vemon glands

How much would a venomoid cost

Keeping venomous snakes, when done responsibly, is not any more "crazy" than keeping any other animal. That being said....hot snakes are not for everyone and there are people out there who have them and shouldn't.

About the topic of venomoids.....this is an extremely controversial topic in the herp hobby, for good reasons. The vast majority of venomoids are created illegally, inhumanely and irresponsibly. I myself am vehemently opposed to hacking up a venomous snake simply because a person wants a "de-venomized" cobra to show off to their friends. Honestly....I could write a 10 page essay on this topic and still have more to talk about lol.
