Just what you don't want to come home to!

I thought it was going to be tank water on the floor thread...but still not what I'd want to find either - sorry to hear. Sounds like you'll want to address the lid situation. Perhaps as easy as putting something to weigh down, or adding some sort of "locking" mechanism.
for my Moray tank, i just use an oversized piece of plexiglass and 4 or 5 of those C-clips used to lock screened snake-lids onto aquariums and few 2x6's on each end to weigh it down

Sorry for your loss Krich at least it wasn't a failed seam with all fish+water on ground, then you really would be having a bad day. I had a aro a few years back that escaped thru a tiny opening...

Ah that sucks... that would ruin anyones day.
Yep,I'm still a little pissed off about it.

Sorry to hear about that. Really sucks when they manage to get out and you're not home to save them. Been there.
I don't get it often but it really bothers me to lose any of my fish these days.In this case I had a plan in mind for a particular collection of fish to be in one of my tanks and after this I was so upset initially I felt shutting everything down and saying to Hell with it all.

^ i've been there, just dont do anything rash at the heat of the moment, or you may end up kicking yourself even more...

I know what you mean and I came around after a few minutes.
Strangely enough when I went to go and check on everything before heading out last night one of the remaining balas got spooked and almost did the same thing.

Yes. They are dithers for my tank but I don't plan for them to go this way. :(

Sorry KRich. It always sucks to lose one that way because you know it's a miserable death.
