I'd kill it... ...if it were dangerous to get out.... but I'd kill it anyway, because no venomous snakes around here are endangered and I don't want a venomous snake slithering around my house, although there are probably lots, too much risk for one of my pets being bitten or the kids next door getting bitten (child care centre thing)

that mower cover is like a 15hp motor cover so its not as small as it looks

LOL umm yea, definitely not anything like a Diamondback or Rattler. LOL, not even close. This looks more like a Earth Snake, and if thats the case, they are harmless, non-venomous and feed on small inverts and bugs, so there would be no reason to be afraid of it or kill it.

Even still, always a "WTF" moment when finding a animal like this unexpectedly, lol.
