Woke up today to a patch of eggs.....from a 6-7 months old fish! Feels so wrong...:eek:

I don't think that's too uncommon for tank-bred fish. Are these F1/F2? A lot of female cichlids mature quickly -- sevs, festivums, discus, angels. Males usually take a bit longer. Did she spawn alone or is there a male standing guard nearby somewhere?

Looked like it was just herself. Her parents were wild caught fish.

I thought it was going to take a year for them to mature...

I wonder how old mine are. They came from JD and are an inch long, maybe more.

They've been living with some discus and getting lots of water changes. Regular food though - mostly just small pellets
 
Damn kids today you can't take your eye off them for a minute. Nice looking fish Peat.
