I have an extra 40 gal that I was gonna use for a low ph Satanoperca tank, do you think a pair would be cool in a 40 ??

It could work temporarily. When the fry get older you can take the parents out and use it as a fry tank :)

That's pretty wild, my OHs came from jd too and they are growing fast, they were on average 1" and I can see a difference already. One weird thing is they all have only 1 lateral spot on their right side nothing on the left. Lol I'm not sure how old they are but looking at your you tube channel I would guess 40-50 days I wonder if mine will lay as early as yours! Ill post if they do lol

Just to wrap this up - the first pair produced free swimming fry :) I pulled the fry and they spawned again shortly after.

Meanwhile, a second pair formed (still in the discus tank) and spawned. Got free swimming fry also.

So I guess it's official - 7-8 months old orange heads are old enough to make babies :D

WOW !! You're turning into a regular OH Factory..lol :headbang2

Well, it happened again - some leftover fry from last fall paired up and spawned a few days ago. They are holding fry now. These are barely 6 months old and 3", even younger than when their parents did it.
