Congrats on your female. I know everyone wants a male, but I think females look very nice as well. Although usually not quite as bad as males they're temperament is still pretty nasty. If you want tankmates you will need to provide plenty of space and cover.

You have to wait until about 5-6 in hess.. At least in my experience.. The male I have now had spots below the lateral line and none at all over it until he was about 5".. An experienced fish store owner and his wife swore it was a female.. They were wrong! I did own a female dovii before and she was shy but she was one bad ***** and wouldnt tolerate any other fish in the tank with her.. Doviis are truly a different breed.
