You forgot about rule #1 You don't TALK about crying......

1. WE DONT CRY ABOUT THINGS....
2. water changes are done via tap water and prime.PH is what ever comes out of the tap
3. feed quality foods RAYS ARE NOT CHEAP AND FOOD ISNT IF YOU WONT EAT IT DONT BUY IT....
4. KEEP THE WATER PRISTINE VIA WATER CHANGES(LARGE 50%)
5. when in doubt to a water change ( falls under stop crying as well)
6. if something is not right and rays look stressed do a water change...
7. DO NOT CRY.... FISH DIE EVERYDAY ZZHIT HAPPENS
8. 2 rules to fish keeping 1 fish die... 2 you cant change rule #1
9. its not the end of the world if you kill a ray... try learning from your mistake and dont cry about it...
10. THERE IS NO REASON TO CRY ABOUT ANY PART OF IT....

Im all about these rules and have been for years. If something seams wrong i raise heat and add salt. I have lost alot of money in fish loss over the years and the only one crying is my wife. If i kill these rays i might have to the hobby on hold though

Haha exactly. I say that Im actually the worst fish keeper out there and that is why I do...well did rays. I bet I couldnt keep a discus or cardinal tetra alive!

Rays are easy. ALL it is is just simple water changes. To keep rays, have a large tank, good filter, a bottle of prime, and a python and your good to go! For new WCs a bottle of prazi pro is handy. Heck I havent even acclimated the last several rays Ive had, just open the box, floated and dumped. They are pretty hardy fish.

Funny you should mentioned tetras and discuss ... i don't seem to be having luck with small tropical fishes.

While the KISS method is what i used on alll my tank, this method does not seem to work for my tiny fishes. I am down to last swordtail (from half a dozen) ... the tiger barbs are ok and so are hatchet fish. My LFS said that neon tetras are really sensitive to water quality ...i wonder what i am doing wrong with my puny fishes

... and what would it be? i really dream of having a neon tetra planted tank. ALL the plants i ever put into my puny fish aquarium died - no exception. I have no idea what plants were but i got them all in LFS

the only success i ever had with plants was morning glory thriving in my sump of the large out door set-up which died after i doused the set-up with malachite green

lets look at the kiss method and how many people use it....im just throwing this out there... this is how i keep rays and have several friends who do the same..

these have proven to be very successful for us... rays have bred (some are still trying with multiple still births but we are dealing with that)
i have not used a test kit in 2 years give or take... i cycle tanks with out them.. ive put rays on very wide diets via starving them for several weeks... not 3 days and worry....again no need to cry about things...


these are just what we do... you want more specifics just ask... funny how when you keep things simple it works better...

True dat!! Water change is the Key to success! I have never use/bought a water test kit. none of my fish died b/c of the h20.
