just a quick question i my FH has took a beating from another FH and has lost 3/4 of his tail i was wandering if it will grow back or not ???

i found the product melafix to be a good healer for many fish ailments including wounds and tail loss. my FH's tail looked like a crescent moon after one scrap.

make sure to use the right amount of salt. too much could stress and kill many freshwater fish, including FH

I agree with that, i've used melafix before its okay, but honestly, good old salt is great. and the tail should grow back, but in some cases may not grow back the same shape it was, depending on how bad the injury, my female flowerhorns tail was practically munched till the base really bad, its grown back took a few months for it to look like a proper tail though, but its fully recovered now, just doesnt look how it used to.

Don't use regular salt they sell aquarium salt at all pet shops. Dosing amounts are listed on the package. Most people add salt with every water change. Most LFS (local fish stores) also carry pimafix and melafix. They're best used together for treating/preventing infections and rapid healing. They're usually anywhere from $5-7 usd each for the small bottles.
