I had a good time yesterday. My kayak worked very well. The only thing bad about it is that it has a large cockpit so I was pretty exposed to the sun and I sure am feeling the burn today!
Here's the only pic I have of it right now from the day I got it. In a couple of days I'll upload the river pics.

I love kayaking! Been wanting to buy one for myself this summer. Hopefully I can find a good deal this August. There is something so serene about being out on the water in a kayak.
Kayaking has became pretty popular in this area for 2010. I think a lot of people look at it as a cheaper way to have a "staycation". Lots of stores in my area are selling them as well so do shop around. Mine was on sale at Gander Mountain for $329 (originally $379) but at Dick's Sporting Goods it was $379.

The bf and I decided we wanted to kayak one day and (of course back when we lived at home) we both had been saving money up so we went and bought them..... really glad we did. Dont get to go out to much but there are a lot of cool places in Tampa area to go to. I have an ocean kayak venus 11. Its really fun I love kayaking, there are a lot of cool places you can go to that a boat cant always get too =]. I have mine set up for fishing as well.
The first 3 pics are on the east coast of FL at mosquito lagoon. The last 2 are crystal river a little north of tampa.
That looks awesome Ash! The water is so clear down there. I've never done ocean kayaking but I know someone who had one yesterday when I was out on the river. They're just not as stable in the creek or river rapids up here. You need a kayak that's a little wider/shorter to make a lot of the quick turns.

I liked being able to throw it on the roof and head out as well.
I should amend that statement to there weren't many whitewater creeks close by. Since I'm on the Ohio river, there's plenty of room for river/lake type kayaking with the larger boats. But a little flat-bottom whitewater kayak is a MAJOR pain to take out on open water like that.
I hear what you're saying. I was on the Susquehanna River yesterday and it's very wide (up to a mile+ in some sports) and pretty calm in most areas. There are a lot of rocks on it and it's very shallow. I was hundreds of yards from shore and it some spots it was only a few feet deep. People walk across this river all the time. But there are a lot of good creeks that flow into it that have some pretty good rapids.

already taken it out twice, just exploring local lakes and ponds so far
Cool man, feel free to post up some pics! My wife and I took some with a disposable water resistant camera so it will be a few days until I get them developed. I didn't want to risk taking my digital camera with me. I've seen enough people flip and ruin their cell phones and what not.

That kind of defeats the purpose of kayak, lol. You'd have to get a special license for one of those in my state because it has an engine.
