I think im quite lucky! Most of my mates either have or had tanks at some point, and the only people i let near them if im away is mum and dad as they used to own a fish shop and dads fish mad! Lol

Well the worst that happened to me was when my dad tried to help me with Co2 needle valve settings, after seeing me struggle with it for a while he adjusted it to get nice bubbles going when I was out to college and I came back home to 80 cardinals , 20 congo tetras and 50+rummy nose, 6 large roseline barbs all dead and floating .

I had collected most of the plants from other hobbyists by doing odds and end , doing thier diy projects , selling ferts/ filters. etc

The fish alone took me a loong time to save up/ beg /recieve in gifts from others.

The ph had crashed to something like 4.
Well we didn't speak for over a year and he still hates all my tanks

Oh no....

I kept a tank in my frat house and everyone was pretty respectful of it. They would check it out and whatnot but never tried to do anything with it and I always left my room open as well. I even got a few of the other guys into the hobby also and helped them start up their own tanks. The tank also made for a great conversation piece with girls at parties who would visit my room. :)

my 3 yr old sister decided to 'feed' my discus community last year while i was away. however it was powder buffer instead, killed all the fish including a breeding pair, has taken nearly a year to get anywhere near what i had before

Wow these are some awful stories :( I have been lucky so far. I do set ground rules when people come over first thing, to avoid any disasters, but I always cringe when there are kids around my tanks. I remember reading a story on here once about a guy who had a kid in his house for some reason and the kid threw a book at his tank to get the fish to move, which if course broke the tank..... =/

damn, i wulda whooped that butt, i like to show kids my tanks, but when they start tapping on that thing, i get pretty mad, but ik they're just kids and they do it cuz they are curious, but when my 20 year old friend (shuld know by now) starts tapping and messing with my fish, it irritates me, but i dont have the heart to tell him to stop
