But to be fair the jumping monkeys, how would most of us feel if somebody started asking how much orange juice to pour on the lawn to help it flower? I mean, books have been available to the common man for almost a century. Reading has been encouraged and the information exists. People come here wanting to be spoon fed and some of us are more willing to do it than others.

:iagree:

It's quite obvious from the 3 pages of responses it's a horrible idea. If the person still does it then they failed not us.

Gotta love how positive and welcoming the community here at MFK is. ;)

There is still a little light here lurking in the shadows.

I know the message has most likely hit home already, but i just want to add, having seen many stunted aro's for sale in Hong Kong i'd say do not try it...

Its amazing how badly some of them become deformed with weird shaped spines, deformed heads etc all from poor diet / too small a tank...

i understand why some members will be mad about "spoon-fed" information to new people.

probably thinking they're too lazy or spoiled to do their own research esp. w/the vast amts. on the internet and bookstores/libraries etc. I kind of agree to a certain point, but I rather just give them as much knowledge as I know from experience then let them do something bad/stupid and kill some innocent fish down the road.

Well this OP appeared to be smart already knew about stunting, diet and the effects.

I think it is hard to be welcoming when some one says something this stupid. I'm sorry but this is just plain stupid. This thread is another example of how uncommon common sense is. Feeding something less than you are supposed to is called starving it. Starving is when you don't eat enough to sustain a healthy body.

Get it?

not saying about this OP, but about people truly new to the hobby like that guy w/the 100g tank.

This OP should know better, all pets are almost 100% dependent on the owner to care for them, and as responsible owners, we should always try to give the best environment, food, and care so the pets can fully thrive.

I'm hoping the OP just messing around, and not truly really thinking about stunting an arowana or other large fish to "manageable" size.

Nature gave them thousands and in some cases millions of years of evolution for them to stay the size they are for a good reason.

First let me state that I do agree that the question at hand is highly unethical to do.

But.....like others said its better for them to ask and be to told its a bad idea/ unethical than just go ahead and do it to see what happens. If we jump all over this person next time they may just experiment rather than ask cause hey why get ripped a new one for a question that he/she thought was valid. I do agree that there is literature out there and it is a great resource but we would have no need for this site if that was the only exceptable media of information exchange.

That being said let me go find a ladder to get down off my soapbox.
