I think you all scared him away.

"Can I stunt my fish's growth to keep him in a smaller tank since I don't have the means to properly accommodate him?"

If we did scare him away I don't think that's much of a lose on our behalf. :screwy:

Until he goes and buys an Oscar for his 5g tank...then we've all failed.

Of course not everyone knows but usually when getting a new live pet you expect a grown adult to be responsible and do the proper research. Ignorance isn't an excuse. That's like me getting a Python and improperly caring for it and using the "I didn't know." I know nothing about keeping reptiles so being a logical/responsible adult I'd do the proper research first.

Exactly, which is why he's here asking questions... He's not saying he has an arowana in a 10 and is planning on keeping it small...

If people just rip into him he's not gunna come back and ask questions, then he'll end up doing something else that we consider common knowledge... He's doing the right thing by coming here...

Its easy to get sucked in to the comments, sometimes we forget that just because it seems like a silly question to us, doesn't mean it is a silly question to someone else.

But to be fair the jumping monkeys, how would most of us feel if somebody started asking how much orange juice to pour on the lawn to help it flower? I mean, books have been available to the common man for almost a century. Reading has been encouraged and the information exists. People come here wanting to be spoon fed and some of us are more willing to do it than others.
