He's obviously a kid. Take it from a teacher, they aren't as bright as they used to be
Im likeing how you've put that, its changed over the last 10 years:ROFL:.

But on a more helpful note, what you want to do is research each family of fish that has a species you love. There are almost always smaller species within a genus that will have what you're looking for. There's a tiny e-cat, a small goonch and plenty of small cichlids closely related to their more massive counterparts. Also, though many disapprove, many short-bodied and dwarfed varieties of fish are cropping up lately. Parrot Oscars, for one. So don't give up, just keep digging until you find a fish whose adult size is compatible with your tank size.

This is good info, better than just ripping him a new one...
People don't realize that not everyone knows... Growing up my dad taught me that fish only grow to the tank they're in because that's what he was taught. He grew up with a 10 gallon tank with a 8 Jack Dempseys (eventually only 5). He didn't know back then. Now i know this is extremely unhealthy and cruel.

Of course not everyone knows but usually when getting a new live pet you expect a grown adult to be responsible and do the proper research. Ignorance isn't an excuse. That's like me getting a Python and improperly caring for it and using the "I didn't know." I know nothing about keeping reptiles so being a logical/responsible adult I'd do the proper research first.

Would you purposely starve your kid just so that he won't grow as fast as other kids and can use the same clothings for a longer time?

I never thought of this, imaging how much money I could have saved in fruit snacks and jeans over the past 13 years?
