Keeping Discus with an Arowana

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Sure you can do this, some people have. Is it a good idea? Probably not, unless you have a really huge tank. Otherwise, they are bound to be stress issues to some degree, and discus may seek cover if they have it for a good portion of each day. The extra stress would no doubt weaken their immune system somewhat , and thus shorten their lifespan over time. It's just like people who smoke. Sure you can do it, but it may shorten you're life in the long run. Discus do best, and grow the largest when they are with their own kind, in a stress free environment.

can the aro be a jar?? or is it too aggressive? i too have a monster tank i would like to set up... my discus are in a 55 right now... but if i can have a jar as a tankmake.. i will definitely look into upgrading my 55 planted discus tank to accommodate a jar...

Jar not so sure. as long as the discus are as big as the aro's head then they should be fine but can't promise anything. i have 2 discus with my 2ft+ silvers and they are perfectly fine together.

:iagree: I wouldn't put discus with any other aggresive fish. Not only they need prestine water condition, they also need stress free environment.
