Keeping fish and being Mathematically challenged

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Left-handed people utilize more of the right hemisphere of the brain which is used for creativity, art, imagination, etc
Right-handed people utilize the left hemisphere of the brain which is used for math/arithmetic, problem solving, technical stuff, etc

How many people in your family are right or left-handed?
Few of my family members are left handed, however I used left and right hand almost equal and guess what? I can write with both hand, I can use chop stick on both hand same time too LOL...I'm alien! O.o

So...there is a common stereotype that people of a specific race(s) of folks are good at math, is that the reason why a good percentage of monster fish keepers are of said race(s)?

Hopefully I don't flamed for this! Just trying to keep the thread alive, and relevant.

Hello ; First thing I question is do you actually know what race monster fish keepers happen to be? These concepts never occurred to me so I ask.

The two concepts being that math skill predicts fishkeeping and that specific races are drawn to fishkeeping due to math skills. This seems a stretch to me without some evidence.

I think it would be interesting info/evidence to have. I can only rely on anecdotal evidence.

Mesopotamia was the first civilization to have mathematics AND fish keeping. All I am saying is that maybe, just maybe, there is a correlation between math and fishkeeping within groups of people.

I don't know if one predicts the other, that's why I'm posting.

If you are looking at the asian Stereotype, they have a rigid school system and generally consume more seafood per capita than most countries. This leads to smart students.

I am of complete Dutch descent, the reason i am 6' 2" at 14

I'm 3rd generation Californian, which is the "Ethnicity" I identify with. Born left-handed, trained to be right-handed, and can play most sports ambidextrously (also amphibiously, lol).

..and I got anywhere from Cs to As in math while in school, and got a 600/800 on math SAT. However, once my brain fully developed cognitively around age 22, I am excellent at math. Been keeping fish since before I knew math.
