Same here,r last one caught fire,we didn't restrict ourselves to potatoes either,we used oranges and other fruit,and at night we shot shockproof flashlights(if u shot a bunch of these in a volley it would be awesome),I've also heard people use them to chum.

I used a marshmallow gun once, not quite the same effect as a potato gun tho.
And I just made mashed potatoes. I makes them from scratch, not the instant flake kind.

I had the opportunity of sharing a breakfast made with an ostrich egg once in Hong Kong. It wasn't made into an omelet, though. It was mainly salt, onion, and garlic.
