Keeping puffers in full freshwater

Is it possible to keep any puffer species in full freshwater? I've had bad experiences in the past with Green Spot Puffers where they mature a bit but die (I assume it's because there was no salt in the water). Would aquarium salt help at all? I like Fahakas but I don't want to take a risk.

Help me out here I know I'm missing a few. These are all fw puffers though.
 
As said Fahakas are pure freshwater. But these guys get big and need to be housed alone when larger. I have one that's about 2" now, I've had him for about a month and he's great. The weird part is that his tank mates include 1 bn Pleco, 2 Otos, 7 cherry shrimp and 8 ghost shrimp. He's never nipped at anyone except the bn once. I put the shrimp in there for him to eat and he hasn't touched any of them yet lol.

Some commonly available FW puffers:

Colomesus asellus, the amazon puffer.

Carinotetraodon travancoricus , the dwarf or pea puffer.

Tetraodon palembangensis,the humpback or dragon puffer.

Tetradodon bailyii, the hairy puffer.

Tetraodon lineatus, the fahaka puffer.

Tetrodon mbu, the mbu puffer.


+ 23 other species of known freshwater pufferfish.

daaaaaaaaaannnng droppin' cherry shrimp in as feeeeeders? #shrimppimpin'

I can't find a place that doesn't sell them for like 6 bucks apiece around here hahaha.

Yea I had a cherry shrimp tank for about three months hoping they would breed and they never did so I got kinda angry and wanted their tank for something else lol. It's now an emerged plant growout. But yea he hasn't touched them haha

haha maybe they'll finally breed for ya in that tank lol.
