would you suggest against keeping wild caught fish. I have a canal behind my house, and occasionally I see grass carp, these weird orange cichlid-looking fish, and beautiful peacock bass. What do you think, maybe if I quarantined them?

Nothing wrong with them! Do it buddy!

Id give it a try. The shock gets them sometimes but they should be ok

Aren't grass carps far too large for most private aquaria?

I saw some grass carp in the C 14 and they were 3 feet plus.

Hardly something to "try out" LOL But if you can find babies, that would be totally awesome

Wild caught fish are excellent, especially if you catch them yourself. Since you live in Miami, you have one of the best varieties in the country. Make sure you post some pictures of your catches :headbang2

yeah ive caught grass carp here in AZ at over 4 ft (of course no pics to prove it sorry:)), so probably not the best choice...but the rest should be alright. Do check your local laws however, I don't know floridas but many states have laws prohibiting the transport of live fish and keeping fish you catch in general. Not that it stops most people...

The grass carp here in Fl are hybrids of some sort so that they do not reproduce in the wild (mules of the fish world). They are released by the state where and when they are deemed benifficial. It is illegal to keep them here.
