a few pix...

first is mine, the second is one of scat's infamous kelberi's. not that I'm saying I'm on the same level, it's just to give you an idea of how these fish can develop. you also may end up with a dud...I've seen a few of those around.

for me thats part of the fun of fishkeeping .you may get an ugly fish but you may end up with a beautiful one !!! of course you want it to be the pretty one!!

wow!! that seems like alot . it depends on how bad you want one !!!How large are they?

thats why i never played the kelberi game. i sat back and watch too many $200-300 fish end up looking like ugly monos. there are a handful that turned out be stunners (like ado's) but youre kidding yourself if you think a group of little guys will all look like scats. scats kelberi posted above is pretty small, about 10" he said. there are many that are much bigger and look nothing like that, and in my opinion, never will.

if you really want a kelberi, i say invest that money towards a bigger one that you can already tell what it looks like. sure, its fun to grow them out and see what you get. but its not so fun when these babies cost $200+. by the time they grow up you have invested a lot of money in them. and all you'll end up with is a $500 investment for a fish that looks no better than a $50 mono.

just my two pennies ;)
