Kewpie's Dragon Worm Growth Thread

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thanks for the compliment :) With all the hides and territory now she's not the community fish (to other bichir) she once was, but she's not actually damaging the other two bichir and she doesn't mess with the cichlids.

There isn't an actual Python brand shower adapter, I just brought my Python to Home Depot and they found an adapter that fit. The downstairs shower in my house is solely dedicated to water changes.

This is why I'm not a fan of hides and allot of decor. I've always had issues with territories. Most.of the time it's not too serious but annoying none the less

Since my 120 is now a bit on the overstocked side of the aquarium stocking spectrum I've been doing 30-40% water changes every other day.

I'm on a well but I've been adding prime anyway, however I forgot to add the prime two days ago and the Lap started the erratic swimming nonsense post-water change, I added some prime and some stability and she recovered.

I still don't know exactly what is going on, but the cichlids are always unaffected.

One detail I've failed to mention so far is that my water is ridden with sulfur, my home water softener takes care of some of it but the sulfur smell is still present.

Does anyone have any experience with sulfur water? I was thinking of putting a sediment filter between the shower faucet and python to see if that helps.

You can bring a sample to your county for wter analysis.

Sorry your going through this. We're on well water too and I opted to install a whole home water filter. It filter nitrates and has a water softener. I'm also thinking of adding something to help with chemical filtration. Surrounded by farms so who knows what being put into the water table

I bought a new water softener for the whole house and even with the chlorine cranked all the way up the water still smells like sulfur.

I'll have to call them and have them inspect it again, this is my first home and my second year here so finances are still tight. My girl doesn't work and the whole load is on me, which is fine with me but.

And again, why is it only affecting the Bichir? I don't understand this. I think I'm just going to find out what my exact model is for my water softener and youtube the **** out of it.

Could it be the chlorine smell ?

Have you done a wc without adding prime ?

I remember reading somewhere that too much dechlorinator can cause a drop in oxygen. I know they breath from the atmosphere but at this point we're grasping at straws. This must be annoying man

I bought this and put it in series with my python:

I've done two water changes with it and the Lap has been unaffected! It's just a cheap, basic made in china sediment filter.

Hindsight is 20/20 (or 50/50 if you're a drunk kewpiefishypewpie) and I really wish I had this before I lost my other Bichir.

I'm thinking of setting my 75 up as a UJ tank. But not until I get it's current resident, my Oscar named Pichael, a 120-125.

What does it do?

I'm wondering if I could put some carbon right into this filter, could eliminate the sulfur smell entirely.
