I was just going to say that. Don't see why you couldn't put carbon in where the water comes in at.

What do you think, get some panty hose and put the carbon in there or just put it right in? I'm thinking panty hose/cheese cloth.

I'd rinse it and put it right in as long as the grains are bigger then the mesh you should be fine.
