Hetros are beautiful, they will get more beautiful by the month.A very enviable species.

They're quickly becoming one of my favorites. Going to try and do two 50% water changes a week for them.

I'm really happy with them. They're in a 30 quarantine for now. Some of them are kind of breathing heavy? I've never kept them before so I'm not sure if it's normal or not.

I actually kind of noticed that... how long have you had them? I feel like the breathing of mine can vary a little bit. What are your parameters? Maybe they're just getting used to the new environment?

Had them for a week, I had the Cryptoheros and tetra in the same tank for 2-3 weeks before that. I'll test the water

Yup I've got ammonia wtf just dosed with prime. Going to pick up some safe start today, I'll fix these guys up.

Any plant suggestions?

Plants for now just to help with the cycling or long term?

For water quality floaters are great like water lettuce, frogbit, or brazilian pennywort. You could also get water wisteria or water sprite and just toss it in. They can do fine without being planted.
