Dace you'll definitely need aeration. Without it, I've never been able to move Dace around longer than 20 minutes.
Nice.I had a group of sunnys years ago.smaller sunfish, specifically banded, though ill have to look into regs for that specific fish because it is rare. I was also thinking bullheads, and stream species like dace
Sounds like an attempt at a conservation level breeding project ?smaller sunfish, specifically banded, though ill have to look into regs for that specific fish because it is rare. I was also thinking bullheads, and stream species like dace
Nice! I'm on the hunt for banded sunfish as well! also blue spotteds. bullheads are relatively easy to find at least in my area. Try fishing a stream in the spring or if your laws allow use a dipnet. I catch baby bullheads that way all the time at work during stream surveys. I have 2 yellow bullheads in my 120. I had a black bullhead with them but they ate him oddly enoughsmaller sunfish, specifically banded, though ill have to look into regs for that specific fish because it is rare. As long as it's not on the threatened/endangered species list it should still fall under GFP rules and regulations. Just remember just because it's rare where your from doesn't mean it's rare everywhere else. Same thing applies to the catch site as well. One fish may be rare in one pond but if ya went to the pond next door it might be the most abundant life form there.smaller sunfish, specifically banded, though ill have to look into regs for that specific fish because it is rare. yup!Sounds like an attempt at a conservation level breeding project ?
yup exactly! Its rare in my state as the river closest to me is the only one in the state it is found in. thank youJust a heads up: do not release any of these back into the wild, and if the fish is rare, perhaps do not collect it. Captive breeding can shift the genetic selection in the favour of fish that do well in captive environments instead of in the wild. If a population is small it's better to leave them as is instead of remove animals from it which reduces the gene pool. Just my 2c
