In the last 5 years I have had 7 stones.... calcium build up may actually be from you body and not just what you intake.. and its important that you find this information out. They think that I have an overactive thyroid gland which is not really a good thing or its genetic and they say that is whats causing my kidney stones, as well as what I was eating/drinking (which was a lot of tea, soda and meat/fish/seafood).... and mine are calcium stones (a few stones are caused by other things). I actually have a wall of calcium on my kidneys -_-. I was told that it most nuts esp. peanuts are bad, coffee is bad, tea, choclate, anything caffinated pretty much esp. soda and the list goes on you'd be suprised at what is on the list..its the strangest mix of foods. Anywho I was told that having a beer now and then as well as freshly squeezed lemons or oranges or citric acid in general (as in buy it in the fruit isle as a fruit and juice it yourself) and A LOTtttt of water and cranberry juice is good for stones and helps keep them small or break them down and flush them out. They do hurt like a mofo.... the first one I ever had I didnt know what it was and I was at work... my back hurt really bad so I was sent home. I was walking to the front of the store and I fell down and couldnt walk I just held my back and cried I was in so much pain. They called an ambulance cuse they didnt know what was wrong with me... it was embarassing.
