My jack dempsey kills everything that I put in the tank with it. It is only 4", but it has killed three plecos (two of them were at least twice its size) and one 6'' gar. What is safe to put with it?

what size tank do you have it in right now?
if the tank is big enough try putting in a bunch of no aggresive fish in large numbers in the tank, severums. just an idea

my jack was pretty tuff at 6".. so i thrw in a 8 inch oscar and he became real cool real quick, after him understanding that he was not the alpha of the tank i introduced a parrot and a con,,, now they all get together great,,,

somtimes you just gotta "check" a mofo

"Checking" a fish is fine, but be careful what you use...a 2" size differential with an oscar is luck more than anything. Most JD's will tune an Oscar in a hurry. The cons are a good suggestion. Salvini would also work. Jags and Uro's may work, but a year from now the tank would be crowded when they get larger.

Your Jack is regarding the entire 50g tank as his territory, most any fish put in the tank will be killed. I would try getting a tank divider add the new fish so that it is seperated by the divider, this will give it time to acclimate. Plecos are not a fish I would choose, but if you like them just provide lots off hiding spots and they will be fine after you remove the divider.

50 gal 4 feet long,,,, must look like a glass 2x4

This makes no sense at all. A 4 foot 50 gallon tank is approx. 48" x 12" x20" far from resembling a 2x4:screwy:

when you add another fish move the rocks and bogwood ect around and feed the jd just before you add the new fish, then true off the light

the amount of time people put into analyzing jokes and dimensions, could better be spent on somthing else,, :thumbsdow
