Moray eel will eventually outgrow a 50 gallon tank, so unless you can move to a larger tank in the future, not a wise choice.

I agree.... 50 gallons is a tad bit small. Gymnothorax Tile can grow over 2'. But they do not require much space for their territory. They are quite comfortable just chilling out all day until feeding time. Get a small one and plan on the upgrade... we all do.:)
 
I'm setting it in a 90 gallon instead, I still have to set it up - I was thinking salvinis and a texas cichlid. What is the scientific name for the freshwater moray?
