It just makes news because people love to say "I told you so" or have frail beliefs that whales love them or something. I love whales, but they do not love people. They are captive, conditioned animals. Any animal used by humans to perform stunts and tricks occasionally goofs up and exhibits natural behavior. Lions, scorpions, shoot, I'll bet dove crap has gotten magicians sick. Working with any animal has risks. Considering how rarely these things happen, it's a relatively safe roll of the dice. How long was it before a tiger got Sigfried or Roy? Some twenty years or so? If people rode alligator gars everyday, you'd hear a story every few years about one guy getting nipped or slapped at one park out of the thousands of zoos using them. It is what it is.
