KINDLE FIRE!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
wasn't even difficult , I just got lucky....was trying to sideload 1 mobile .. not successfully........... downloaded swapps.. off of 1 mobile .. all the unlisted apps (from 1 mobile)became reachable... .. downloaded firefox and got access to my google acct...(amazon doesn't want that , but somehow they allowed it)so I have at least some sync with my google acct.and access to my google drive files from an UNROOTED KFHD.. :)

Update....much better browsing experience with dolphin browser and firefox than silk browser(stock )...battery life seems to have decreased though... maybe due to more usage...lol

New update... the android experiment goes on...downloaded a new launcher... the only one that can be loaded without root ...adw is its name I believe... now it acts mostly like an android device and looks like one ...would love to find a clock to install

If you like the stock android look, I made a set of clock widgets based on the 4.2 style clock to go along with my company's launcher (called Jelly Bean Launcher and developed with the kindle in mind, but adw is nice too). Here's the link for our clocks if ya wanna check them out https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.calsto.clocks.jb42 but there are tons of different styles on the Play Store to choose from depending on your taste. I personally find clock widgets a little redundant so I fill my homescreens with widgets for email, sms, notes, and a calendar :)

Most people don't even know what a launcher is for the first year so he's already ahead of the game lol. You'll be constantly discovering new things u can do with Android but custom ROMs are where the real fun is. If you have access to a computer where u can temporarily install the drivers (not sure if library computers would work) I would definitely recommend rooting it. Its super simple, can be unrooted just as easily if u need to send it in for repairs under warranty, and lets u do everything Amazon doesn't want u to ;) U can even flash a new ROM like I mentioned before in order to run the latest version of android without any of the Amazon UI or bloatware. Then it will be exactly like a normal android tablet

thanks pards your gonna hafta be my new "go to guy"for android tablets.... I will check out your clocks... I hope hope amazon doesnt block instalation ...do you think Data Doctors could root it for me ? thanks for the link and the support.....LEE

didn't install ...drats...prob went to the tab2 I briefly had...AMAZON HATES everybody elses apps.....

Ya Amazon only wants Kindle users to download from their appstore because they review each app for compatibility and compliance with their ad policies. We tried to publish on Amazon a few years ago but they rejected it because we link to the Google Play Store in the settings instead of Amazon and it wouldn't be worth making two versions of our 60 apps lol. I have the clock widget installed on all 3 of my tablets tho so Amazon probably wouldn't let u install it because that link I sent was for the play store. U could try sideloading the apk but it might be easier to just root it. Here's a video explaining the benefits of rooting a kindle https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0fg3dPiAsa0&feature=youtube_gdata_player I should note that it does technically void your warranty, but any issue covered under warranty would be hardware related so unless your backlight somehow dies u can unroot before sending it in (which I've done a half dozen times lol). Feel free to ask any questions tho :)
