Knee surgery didn't go as well as expected.

I just went to see the surgeon, the news wasn't what I wanted to hear. I was informed that my days of racing and serious riding are most likely over. He told me that I should consider selling some of my bikes as well. Words can't really describe my current mood. He told me that there is a chance but it isn't looking good. I have Patella Femoral arthritis, whatever that is.

I'm going back in a month and he might try a steroid injection to see if it might help me get over the hump. What's weird is that it is actually my right knee (first surgery) that is giving me so much pain. The left knee is still sore and stiff but it does seem to be recovering pretty well.

Looks like I am going to be getting a little extra income from selling some bikes though.

I can probably sell one of my bikes for about $4,000 and another one for about $1200 or so without wheels. I'll probably keep my other bikes to just go out and do some easy riding on. If I can get up to 150 or so miles a week I will consider it a huge success.

u have to sell ur bikes????????
o man thats really disheartening.....im really sorry mate...hope you get better

Yes but I will probably keep three of them. I'm also keeping my crotch rocket. I already sold my KTM 250 XC dirt bike. :(

to think I'm going to feel some pain here in a few weeks. I'm working to get the insurance company to approve an arthroscopic surgery for my rotor cuff tear.
This is going to make water change days a real treat from what I'm guessing.

I hate my workmans comp insurance company with all my guts. If I had a gun, I'd probably have gone postal by now.

how is your knee doing now.. do you have full range of motion...or at least some of it... i hope.. does it still give you pain?

I still have quite a bit of pain and still can't ride my bikes (bicycles). I am able to get out on the crotch rocket though. After about 30 - 45 minutes I have to get off of it and stretch though.

I am spending quite a bit of time at the gym now trying to strengthen my legs up. About six weeks ago I could not even do leg extensions with five pounds. I am now up to 130 pounds for my sets on leg extensions. I am doing my sets of leg presses with about 425 pounds. I just started wrapping my knees so I should be over 500 pounds on my leg extensions in a week or so. I am doing quite a few other strengthening workouts as well.

I am hoping to be back on the bike in the next few months, or at least by January. I really don't think I will ever be able to race again though. :(

Oh, as for your question about it still giving me pain, it only hurts when I move. :(

Rotator cuff surgeries are nasty. I'm doing my best to keep from having to get one myself. I really don't want to have to miss any more work in order to get it.

Anyway, good luck and I hope you do your research on doctors. I can tell you one NOT to go to. ;)
