dang man that sucks..
i just tore my acl, pcl, and mcl on feb 22 from a bad snowboarding injury.
now i need surgery and this thread is making me **** my pants.
but i hope everything goes well for you. and hopefully well for me

Thanks everyone.

Elliotyoon, I hate to be the bearer of bad news but you are in for a much rougher recovery than I am. I hope it goes as smooth as possible for you, some people have much better luck than others.

I did a partial tear on one of my ACL's skiing several years ago. I opted to pass on surgery but there have been plenty of times that I have regretted that decision.

Knee surgery is the pits... i remenber how hard it was to bend the leg enough to fit it through the door of the vehicle and slip it in.. ouch.. you cannot bend that leg... with out seeing stars.. i don't know why i thought it was going to be so easy... maybe cause its just the knee.... wow i was in for an awakening.. i know what your going through..

It's funny how you will think it's no big deal, it will only hurt for a second. You are quickly reminded how untrue that is. I really look forward to being able to drive again, then to get back on the motorcycle, and then back on the bicycles. It will be a long process but if things go as they should it will all be worth it. I have no idea how long it will be until I am back to racing, I'm hoping that time will come though.

I have to say though, it has been nice being able to spend so much time here on mfk! :naughty:

Trust me...sooner then later this will all be just a bad memory.. it does get better...

I hope so, I've still got way too much pain in my right knee. I get sharp pains any time I put too much weight or pressure near full extension. The pain is isolated at the patella tendons. I was told that the pain "should" get better. I didn't care much for that answer but don't really have much of a choice but to accept it. I've got a lot of team mates that I am really wanting to get out there and ride with so I'm hoping I heal sooner than later.

Good to hear your in somewhat good spirits about it.

I crashed a bike last year doin about 90 mph. Broke my elbow completely off to where my forearm was completely disconnected from my upper arm. Ended up having some titanium installed along with a soft cast for 4 weeks. I'll never forget the day the cast was removed. I was scared to death to move it! It took about a week for me to move it a smidge but as the weeks passed I was able to move it more and more. Worst part for me is I'm a carpenter and that was my swinging arm.

Situations like this can get VERY depressing as well. We're all here for ya man! Keep that chin up and keep trying to move it as much as you can bear.

Thought I would give a quick update. I just went for my first physical therapy session for my knee. When I got there they immediately looked at my knee, asked me a couple of questions, then told me that they could not give me therapy yet. They said that at this point it would be worthless to try and could possibly do harm to it. They also said that they had never seen a leg bruised up like that from a lateral release, especially almost two weeks after the surgery. They couldn't believe it is still swollen as badly as it is either. They also kept feeling how hot it was for some reason.

I knew it wasn't good when the therapists kept calling for other therapists go come in and take a look at how bad it was. I'm supposed to call them back in a few days and let them know if there are any improvements.
